ISO a converter that allows a Swedish Laptop to be plugged into an American Outlet? Any for sale in the US?

I have a student that can’t get her cable to work with her converter and was looking for one to purchase in the states to avoid having her parents having to ship it to us. The one she’s using has 2 plastic pieces that is preventing it from working.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

It’s a good bet that the laptop isn’t just made in Sweden (a very small market for such a high-tech item). It’s probably a computer that runs using the Swedish language, right? If so, then the manufacturer (Lenovo, Dell, HP, Toshiba, Phillips, etc) can probably supply the correct power cable for use in the USA.

Most laptops have universal power supplies, so they can be plugged in anywhere in the world, if they have the correct power cable. This is done primarily because of all of the electrical safety regulations; it’s so expensive to get the testing and approvals that they only want to do it once.

Contact the computer manufacturer via the web and buy the correct power cable for the USA — it should be under $20. You may even be able to get it at a local store like Best Buy, CompUSA, Fry’s, or Circuit City…
