I am a PC Tech for a power company, and we used these in the past so I am still servicing them. They are nice machines, but you can do allot better. If this is your price range than I would say go for it, but if you could save up a few hundred more and spend 400-500, you can get a much better laptop from Bestbuy, Futureshop, ect.. But go HP for sure, they are by far the best for functionality, design, support, and price.

Depends. If you just want to surf the internet then probably. But if your going to use it as a personal laptop I would say no. There is only 40 GB of hard drive space and you only have 1 GB of RAM plus there are no installation disks so if something goes wrong your SOL. Plus that’s an older model it looks like. Personally if your going to invest in a laptop invest in one that will last you a few years. This one looks like there trying to put one over on ya

Yeah, I think it’s pretty worth it, but watch out there’s only 80 GB in the hard drive. I think it’s pretty worth it though.

Haven’t looked for the spec, but the forums show this model may well be more trouble than it’s worth…even at the current ebay bid of $127.50…

If the laptop you’re looking at is in good, working condition it is a great deal. Here’s a link showing that this model, brand new, runs for around $2000.

Check ebay’s rating for the seller to make sure they’re reputable. If you get a computer that has major problems, it wouldn’t be such a good deal. Write the seller and ask why they’re selling it. If they have upgraded to a better machine and want to recover some value from their old machine, it may still be in good condition.

Also, you might read the user’s comments on in the link above. You might want to spend a litttle more and get a really good machine, depending on what you intend to use it for. Ars Technica is an excellent site for seeing comments and reveiws by real computer users. Also, check out HP’s website for currently available systems. New systems w/warrantee and extended service contracts now start around the $500 mark.

I’ve always had good luck with HP procucts over the years, and my current gem is an HP a6333w from WalMart that I picked up nearly new from a local pawn shop for about half the cost new. This is my third or fourth system from them.

I trust HP enough that I am willing to spend money on one without any warrantee at all. I also use one of their excellent 1400 All-In-One printer/copier/fax machines that is now nearly 5 years old and still works as good as when I bought it.

I looked at HP’s home page and the computer is 4 years old. a 40 gb drive is okay if your not going to be playing alot of videos and doing alot of downloads because its too small. the amount of memory is better than the hard drive. No software replacement disks so if the operating system crashes your screwed. If you really want the computer and its all you can afford, wait until the last 5-10 minutes of bidding because the bids will increase and it may go higher than you want to spend. If you can wait, save your money and buy a newer, faster computer. If you bid now, its too early and wait until just before the bidding closes and see what you are able to spend.
