Does anyone know if the $140 laptop designed for children in developing countries will be on sale in the US?

I read about it in the newspaper a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if it is only sold to nonprofits, or if it is commercially available. Is there something about it that limits its use to children?

Yes, I think they more of a low end computer and may use Linux OS. But, they do have Wireless Inet from what I had seen many months ago. It may have changed. Also, they really dirt proof because of the areas they will be used.

If you want it you have to pay more, and also buy one for a child.

yes it will. the cost is up to $200, and i heard that it will be sold in the US for $400. you get one, and one gets bought in your name and donated to the developing world. i think that’s the only way you can buy it in the states.

It won’t be on sale, exactly. OLPC announced some time ago, and should be commencing in November, its "give one, get one" program to allow people in developed countries to donate one laptop and be allowed to purchase one themselves in return.
